Lil Nas X has announced his most anticipated song yet with a fictionalized court trial.
The rapper will release his new track “Industry Baby” on Friday, July 23rd. The song features production from Take A Daytrip and Kanye West, and vocals from Jack Harlow.
The announcement video for the new single presents a fake court appearance by Lil Nas X, where he acts as the judge, prosecutor, defendant and more. The trial is a fictionalization of a real lawsuit against Lil Nas X’s limited edition “Satan Shoes.” The shoes, which are a collaboration with art collective MSCHF and allegedly contain human blood, are made from pairs of Nike Air Max 97s. Nike not only made it clear that they are not a part of this collaboration, but also sued MSCHF. The two settled the lawsuit, and the shoes were refunded from buyers.

“Industry Baby” marks the first collaboration between Lil Nas X and Kanye West. The artist previously worked with Take A Daytrip on singles “Rodeo”, “HOLIDAY”, and “Montero (Call Me by Your Name).”
Kanye West is reported to have shown his upcoming project, “Donda”, to select friends over the weekend. This comes after a clip of the rapper listening to new music with Tyler, The Creator was posted and subsequently taken down by Consequence last week. Fans are speculating that the album could be released as early as this Friday, but will most likely come later this year.
